Thootpaste+Mineral Oil = Thermal Paste?

Mario5

So my PS3 overheats and sounds like a jet engine. I want to replace the old probbably dried up thermal paste but I have none. And beacuse of my current situation wich I wont be explaining here I cant buy any. Could I use Thootpaste and Mineral Oil mix as thermal paste in the long term?

Rather not, that toothpaste alone will damage the copper and the chip die/IHS on long-term use. I applied some toothpaste on the past on my old laptop and let it there for 2 years... I regretted it since.

Plus the fact it dries so fast.

Humor me, as you should do.

Copper anti-sieze from the old man's garage should do the trick. A conductivity warning here. But actually works better than some pastes I've tried. TG7 comes to mind. Pretty sure you can pick that up at the local bestbuy.
