Low fps everytime I update windows10

Hey,

I have a friend with a very specific problem.

Everytime windows gets an update and he updates it, for the next few days he can't game because he would have a very small amount of FPS like 20-30 fps when he usually gets 144+. After a couple of days the problem goes away np

We tried to search online but to no avail. Something we noticed is that in this low fps state the cpu seems to be at very low speeds, something like 0.75GHz when he has a i7-6700k

Thankful for anyone who can help or point us in the right direction

Things don’t spontaneously go away with machinery of any kind.  Sometimes stuff eventually burns away or something and it seems like it goes away but that isn’t how things work. Machines don’t heal.  He may be doing a shutdown and restart of a particular type or some kind of something in which case if he just did that thing immediately  it would be back to “normal” in a few minutes.  The trick is figuring out what that thing is.  I suspect it is a full standard shutdown and startup, but I just don’t know.  Maybe look at the logs to see if there is a commonality.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
