Budget: $600

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: General use, Gaming, and light 3d modeling

Other details I am planning on upgrading my computer shortly. I looking to reuse my power supply, graphics card, and case. I live close to a microcenter so I have been looking at there sales and I can get a 11700k for the same price as a 5600x. And am looking for a recommendation? currently I have an AMD a8 6600k.

Full system specs? Just because you think you can reuse those things doesnt mean they really can. Plus 11700k is on a dead platform and you should consider motherboard prices for that.

Are you just looking for a CPU, MB, and Ram or do you need upgraded cooling, SSD/NVMe, etc?

just cpu and motherboard at this point. I pickup 32gig of gskill 3600 cl18 over Christmas.

I’d go amd over the 11700k but that’s just me. If you want to go intel a 12700k and Asus prime z690M plus are able to be had for around $600. Otherwise the 5800x and Asus tuf gaming x570 plus (or any of several options) will come in under $600. (I was looking at Newegg prices, maybe your local micro center prices are better still)

Both of these will offer similar performance.

The main reason for asking is microcenter currently has the 11700k discounted to the same price as a 5600x

269.99 for the 5600x and the 11700k the 5800x is 329.99

If you’d like to come in under $600 the 11700k should be fine for Gaming and light 3d modeling..
