So i would like to see minimum and maximum processor state in power options under processor power management like shown here: http://maximumpcguides.com/windows-7/set-the-maximum-processor-state/

The problem is, that if i follow these steps and get to processor power management all i see is system cooling policy and no maximum and minimum processor state. Anyone knows how to get those to show? Thank you.

It's actually a desktop pc but there's still the same power options in control panel the only difference should be; no batery options.

Hmm... So does it state battery options than?

Might just be a general windows feature. I'd have to look at my desktop at home to see. I think it is.

Yes it is a windows feature. And i think a few years back (on the same windows) it showed maximum and minimum processor state and you could fill in % of cpu usage but now that's not in there and i really want to decrease those % because my "core 0" is overheating even tho i dusted the pc, put new thermal paste on.

You overclocking? Maybe you have a bad mount? Shouldn't be overheating. System specs?

not overclocking, can't be a bad mount because my pc has been shutting down automaticly cuz of high temps for 6 years now and i have done many mounting resets. I have a huge room cooling fan blowing through the case also (helps a bit but not enaugh). system specs: intel dual core 2 duo E8400 3ghz, GPU nvidia geforce 8800gt, xilence 550W PSU, 4gb ram.

no it's aftermarket with 1000 more RPM than original and a bit bigger surface of aluminium or what ever..but it shouldn't be overheating even with stock cooler because they wouldn't make a cooler that isn't good enaugh for the certain cpu because it would just make them get more repairs and stuff idk.. :(

In the advanced power settings(accessed from Power Options > Edit Plan Settings) you can change the minimum and maximum processor state from the processor power management sub tab. It is ideal to keep it at 99% and can be lowered for better cooling, lesser power consumption and optimal performance according to your needs.

Edit: I guess I repeated what was already told in the link... sorry v.v

Hmm. That's interesting. I would suggest remounting the cooler yourself. Perhaps it wasn't mounted correctly in the first place.

I know i should be able to do that but as i said minimum and maximum processor state aren't there under processor power management.. only system cooling policy is there.

since it started overheating (2 months after i bought it NEW) i have remounted the cooler at least 5 times and i know i did it right because i've watched many youtube videos like the ones from linustechtips and others..

Hmm... Maybe try downclocking the chip? Perhaps there is something wrong with the chip.

I am also running window 7 ultimate on one of my PC and it has that very setting, maybe it is not available for your CPU.

Go into the BIOS and underclock the chip so let's say it's clocked at 3GHz downclock it to say 2.8Ghz and it should be fine than. If it still isn't downclock further. if you get to say 2.5Ghz and it's still overheating i say you may have to look into upgrading my friend.

On a second thought, do you have uefi bios? Or are you handy with editing registry?

Follow this link ~ it might help you find an alternate solution.
