My fault. I guess I didn't think about it in depth. I have a Dell XPS 8500 with an 3770 16gb of ddr3 1600mhz on all four dimms  .. it just been transplanted into a new case and paired with a GTX 960 .. would upgrade the Mobo be a good idea ? Or can I more powerful GPU be good enough?

Changing your motherboard isn't going to boost your performance when keeping the other hardware the same.

Not unless you get the board for free. If you are on an ivy bridge motherboard (some sandy bridge boards worked with a bios update iirc) you already have PCI-E 3.0. Better off saving for a modern CPU + mobo.

This question as written makes no sense and is impossible to answer.

What are the system specs you are considering upgrading from? What is the CPU going to potentially bottleneck? The GPU you mention wanting to upgrade but don't specify?

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Changing the motherboard isn't going to do anything by itself.
