What is the recommended explorer for usual of the shelf PC 

chrome the best but bleeding out my 8gb ram, edge seems to be worst

Are you sure Edge is updated? The Chromium version of it should be best. Chrome is usually one of the worst and Firefox is decent.

Edge is rather slow in my experience. Try Pale Moon (Firefox without most of Mozilla's worst ideas).

Also, Vivaldi (which is a good Chromium-based browser without Google tracking by default).

I personally use Google Chrome

 

 

I have 4GB of total RAM, and ~300MB of available RAM with google chrome closed, so you should be fine with 8GB

 

 

 

I don't have much experience with other browsers, but here's an idea of what my computer is dealing with as we speak, so it should be pretty clear that Chrome isn't cinnabench, and just about any PC should be able to run it
