Pretty much any Cherry MX compatible keycap set should cover most of the keyboard. You won't be able to find third party sets that fit the control and space bar keycaps, and only some sets fit the left Windows key. If you mix and match, be aware that the height and shape of the keycaps may not match. The wire is a part of the stabiliser (Costar stabilisers), not the keycap, and detaches from the keycap, along with two plastic pieces.

 

If you want a set that covers the entire keyboard, it looks like Asus has a double shot PBT keycap set, which includes the odd sized keys. I couldn't find whether the keycaps included with your keyboard are the same ones, or if they are thin laser etched ABS keycaps. The easiest way to tell is to just take one off and look at the underside. If it's two different coloured plastics, it's double shot, and if it's plastic of one colour with some paint over, it's laser etched.

If he has Costar stabs he may need to get adapters to cherry style if his current keyboard doesn't already have them.
