that's not the newest version. Pretty sure they're up to Java 17 at this point, and Minecraft hasn't worked with Java 8 for a few years at this point. Install the latest OpenJDK release and you should be golden.

i host a minecraft server and i am trying to make a 1.18 server but it says that i need java with compatibility for class file 61.0 but my version of java only recognizes up to class rile 60. How do i remedy this issue i have tried updating my java to java 8 update 311 and that seems to be the newest version?
