Using Apple Earbuds with PC

elbuzzo

Hey yall, I'm having troubles using Apple Earbuds as both audio input and output. I have two options:
1. Connect via the combined mic and headphone jack on the front panel
2. Connect via an audio splitter to the rear IO panel

Both options can play audio, but could not pick up my voice when I did a voice test. I tried using another headset, HyperX Cloud II, yet both options presented a clear audio input and output.

Please help 😞

Head into your Control Panel > Sound > Recording and see if the Apple earbuds appear. If they do, set it as your Default.

Sadly, it does not.

Are these the Lightning version of the Earpods? If so, I think you will need to get a lightning to USB-A adapter for your PC.

EDIT: something like this

Anker USB-A to Lightning Audio Adapter Cable, MFi Certified Female Lightning Dongle, Supports Volume Control and Mic for Headphones, Earphones, Earbuds, and More. : Amazon.ca: Electronics

Apple uses a different pin layout than everyone else in the market. Basically the Mic and ground pins are opposite from standard. Need to add an OMTP converter to your signal chain.

Are you using a SPLITTER, or a HEADSET ADAPTER? They are different.

It is the 3.5mm jack version though

I'm using a splitter.

you will need a headset adapter

The audio line is: earbuds => CTIA to OMTP => Hyperx audio dongle. It works!
