Hey everybody,

I intend to install a custom power button.

The power button I want to use has to integral LED plates. I plan to light up one plate when the PC is on and the other plate when the PC is in standby.

Currently my power button has one LED which is on when the PC is on and is flashing when the PC is in standby.

Is it even possible to do what I intend to do? I could hijack the HDD LED wire to power the second LED plate... but how do I control how and when the two light plates are on/off?

I have a ASUS Z390-E motherboard.

edit: I noticed that there are 2 system power LED connectors on the board (see attachment). Can I use those for what I want to do or are they redundant?

Thank you for your help.

You dont.
afaik its not possible unles you program an Arduino (or similar) to intercept the signal and output another based on it.

But no, there is no stand-by light that stays on. At least not normally.

You could however put a decently sized capacitor in parallel with the led (to make it blink less), but who knows what that does to the motherboard itself.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!
I'm just helping YOU to help YOURSELF!

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Unfortunately the 5V 9.4mA from the system power LED output were not enough to light up the LED anyways.

I found a workaround to power the power button LED from the RGB header connectors. I'm using only one color pin of the header though.

My problem now is that I couldn't find a way to control the LED color and brightness. The ASUS LED control app Armoury Crate doesn't recognize it as a compatible device (obviously, because it's not). Is there any third party app that gives me control over the LED header connectors directly, without the need of a compatible device?

Additionally would it be possible to have the RGB header illuminate one color (for example green) when the PC is on and a different color (for example blue) when the PC is in standby? If yes I could use a different color pin for the other LED plate in my power button.

edit: I got it to work with Armoury Crate... is there a way to control the color when the PC is in standby?

Again, thanks a lot for any help.
