I regards to Metro games they are just poorly coded and designed so really should they count in terms of most graphic intensive/hard to run?

I suppose as long as the 'reputable' benchmarkers continue to use them for benches then yes.

Personally I think that taking into account the budget and development team/house that were used to create those games I do not balk at the fact that it's imperfect in some ways because the games are still good to actually play, and the issues are not so bad that the game is not playable on a reasonable system.

For example I have finished both games on a 560ti at 1680x1050 and the fps was more than playable with no AA and medium settings.
