What would you choose ?

I say get the better more expensive ram because that's not a slouch of a cpu

What are you planning on doing with the system? Also, what graphics card are you using and how long do you want the system to last?

 

If you're mainly gaming, RAM isn't the most important thing. Your GPU is the most important part. The CPU is the second. The RAM is third.

 

In this market, that money won't make a dent in a GPU upgrade, but could you upgrade the CPU? Could you go up to a 10850K? Could you go with a 12700K build instead? Those would both offer more performance than the better RAM would.

 

Of course, if you're stuck with your GTX 1060 for now, all of that discussion is sorta moot. A 10400F paired with DDR4-2666 CL22 would be able to max out that card in most situations.
