If i use a sata splitter for sata 3, (6gbps) would it affect my hard drives drastically? like damage them, ruin them, or will it just work with lower speeds

If you're talking about using some kind of PCIe-based SATA HBA or RAID card, you're usually pretty safe, but can you clarify what you mean by "SATA splitter"?

What kind of splitter are you talking about? AFAIK, you can't split a single SATA data port if that's what you're planning.
