That's just completely unnecessary, and quite frankly, ridiculous. Windows is just as good. Linux has its own issues, especially for the stated use cases (i.e. gaming and business). Linux gaming has come a long way, but there's still significant issues that need to still be resolved. The Steam Deck should create some momentum there, but we're not there yet by any stretch of the imagination. When it comes to business apps, there's a significantly high likelihood that the OP relies on probably multiple applications that will not be available to Linux. Not all of these apps are trivial to replace, either. For Word, sure, you can just use Libre Office or something. For something like accounting software, though, there's *very* high lock in, and switching applications would be totally impractical.

 

There's lots to like about Linux, and it's great you're so enthusiastic about it. However, it is not the second coming of Christ. It's just an OS with its own issues and problems just like any other OS. Windows is better than Linux at many things, just as Linux does some things much better than Windows. Saying you shouldn't use Windows at all is just ignorant.

Go for a 5600X, not a 5600G. You don't need the iGPU if you have a dedicated graphics card already, and you're trading lots of performance for that iGPU. Actually, you might even consider a 5800X. It's not strictly necessary for what you're doing, but it's seen a price cut since Alder Lake launched, and it would give you plenty of overhead to grow into. For $300, it's a stupidly good deal.

I would go with a B550 board instead. B450 might work, but it also might not. There's a better chance of less head aches with the B550 board.

 

I would also go with a 1 TB NVME drive instead of a 500GB NVME and 1TB HDD. The large capacity drives are normally faster and have better endurance than their smaller counterparts.

 

You also don't have to buy a windows license to use windows. You can run it unlicensed just fine

The 12600K is brand-new, and performs quiet a bit better than a 5800X while being cheaper. But if you are sure, then this would be way to go:

Extra case fan is for the rear of the case. Since you already have a gpu, go for the 5600X instead. I wasn't really sure what your budget was though.
