My friend win7 laptop gets frequent crashes and bsods out of nowhere. Only 2 possibilities I have narrowed it down to, mbr corruption and/or viruses. She does no regular virus scans but has anti virus software installed. And still gets crashes and bsods. Can anyone please tell me a possible fix? Thanks!!!!

Does it give you an error code like 0x800xxxxxx?

Usually it has some kind of indication of what's causing the problem; It will give an error code and/or it will name the file that caused the issue.

In the meantime what you could do is grab a program like Nirsoft's Blue Screen Viewer and browse to C:\Windows\minidump and look for the most recent DMP file. it should show you a replica of your bluescreen that you can use to troubleshoot, of to relay here and we can help you troubleshoot.
