PCI express help

I have been looking at graphics cards, and it seems like all the graphic cards these days have PCI express 3.0 connectors but all the FM3+ motherboards have PCI express 2.0 connectors. Am I missing something or just reading the specs wrong? Why would all the video cards have PCIe 3.0 but the motherboards have PCIe 2.0?

PCI-E 3.0 is backwards compatible with earlier versions of PCI-E.

 

Meaning that PCI-E 3.0 GPU will work in a motherboard with PCI-E 2.0.

Not typically.

Not really, but may be the tinyest bit slower, dosn't make much difference.

For modern graphics card, it's maybe the difference of 1-2 FPS at most
