So I have had this cpu (the 10850k) for a while I messed with it and got a really good overclock I just don't remember it at all. Basically I just got back from deployment and I came back with a 3080 ti and setup my pc but realized I was hitting 101c on my cpu package. There was no overclock and I have a kraken x62 cooler on it. I also tried using my noctua u9s and that was so much worse with the blowymatrons I had on it. I tried undervolting and it won't go very low. At this point I might just decide to get the 12900k but I am wondering if it is even worth it. I was just going to wait for the AMD platform change to see if that was worth it. Any ideas what the temps could be from or if I should just upgrade?

from what I am seeing in teasers from Reviewers on Twitter, the 12900k is going to be a HUGE boost in performance..

Damn but I'd have to get a whole new motherboard and ram with it too

Likely, yes, but there will probably be some Z690 boards that do DDR4 as well, so you could go that route since the 12900k IMC will support both DDR4 and 5, just up to the motherboard manufacture on which they will include on the board.

Or just…. Figure out why your 10850k is running hot.

Reset BIOS defaults? Make sure AIO pump is plugged in and running? Make sure AIO cold plate makes food contact with the CPU? Even if something was broken, it’s all under warranty… let’s get it working 🙂

I have already tried bios reset. I think it's making good contact I mean it's kinda hard to tell. It's definitely running my hwmonitor shows the rpms of the pump and fans.

What is the idle temp? How is everything plugged in fan wise - what mobo headers are the fans and pump plugged into?
