It might be yeah, all it says is "Disk" so I'm not quite sure.

If you're talking about in task manger, then yeah it means disk usage.

The only way to fix 100% disk usage would be to get a faster drive. If you're still using a hard drive, then you're best idea to get an SSD. If you're using a SATA SSD, get an NVMe drive.

100% Disk usage is EXTREMELY abnormal as far as I know. 100% CPU usage is one thing, happens to everyone who uses a PC sometimes, but 100% Disk usage is way out of the ordinary.

It's not that abnormal if he's still using a hard drive.

Which would you recommend? I have a Z490E motherboard.

These images help with little explanations. As everyone says, something is using heavy disk usage. Since it says Antimalware Service Executable. That is normal Windows Defender. It is scanning a crap ton of your files which is why it needs to read so much. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just let the automatic scan do it's thing and everything will be back to normal. If you have slower drive then it might take a while.

Depends on what you currently have. The SN550 is a pretty good value drive, with the SN750 being a bit more high performance (though most people don't need the extra performance).
