HELP WITH ACTIVATING WINDOWS (PLS HELP ASAP)

I have an Asus X509FJ which came preinstalled with windows 10 home edition

I want to do a clean reinstallation of windows 10 on this laptop as i am facing a lot of BSODs while playing games....randomly screen goes blank...pc feels sluggish despite having an SSD...

its been an year and my laptop is out of warranty period

So if i reinstall windows 10 on this laptop...will i be able to activate windows with the same key i had before...the one which came with the laptop?

or will that key be invalid?

if i wont be able to use that key again....i would take it to the shop...else i would do it on my own saving around 20$ for the installation fee

can i note down the current key and type it again while reinstalling it?

both my parents would be out tomorrow....i can do a reinstallation at peace without any disturbance

If you have a MS sccount, it might activate the laptop when you sign back in.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Umm.. maybe you should choose the Restore Windows option... type in Windows search bar Reset this PC

That may avoid the situation you describe

One of my friend told  that reinstalling windows on an OEM again would automatically reactivate it again...i just wanted to verify that

If you have a legitimate key, you can find it on the laptop in question quite easily, do a Google(or whatever) search on "how to find windows 10 product key". However Windows doesn't like it when hardware changes so there's no guarantee that an old key would in fact work on a different system entirely.

Most likely, when you reinstall Windows, it will automatically activate when you log in for the first time. This is especially true if you are using a linked MS account. So there is no reason to be concerned.

Regarding the "pirated" version. It shouldn't be an issue, but more importantly, there is no reason to pirate Windows 10. You can freely download the ISO from official sources and install it with no activation key. The unactivated OS will run with no practical difference, except that you will see a "Windows is not activated" water mark in the lower corner. Other than that it will function normally as if it were activated. So I'll say it again; There is no reason to use hacks or tricks or other untrustworthy methods to get Windows on your system.

like lets say....until last year...i had no idea about tech and all these stuff...my father used to call a tech dude who does all the job from windows installation to hardware changes...and i logged in with the same ms account i used on my laptop on my desktop too....

so can i reinstall windows without worrying that my key would be deactivated or not valid on the exact same laptop?

coz my parents too use my laptop occasionally....if they see an activate windows watermark..they would start doubting that i did something than "broke" my laptop...even though it is not

Logging in with the same account does not mean that they are sharing a key. One MS account can be linked to many Windows keys. I have something like 5 Windows installations linked to my account.

Almost certainly, yes. But if not...

You'll just have to figure out a way to honestly talk to your parents about what's going on. It's good to be open an honest with your parents, assuming they aren't trash people. Sneaking around behind their backs seems easier now, but it will wear on you.

its just that they always would take a pc to the shop irrespective of how small the problem is

the printer scanner app was not working on my mom's laptop...and they took it to the shop....they simply reinstalled the app and asked for like 5 dollars (350rs) for just reinstalling an app...

my dad's phone was stuck in the recovery mode for some reason and the only way to come out of it was doing a factory reset which was just a click in the recovery mode...my father paid 10$ to the service centre for doing a factory reset

they just wont listen to me even if thats gonna save them some money spent unnecessarily

i have reinstalled windows on my pc many times...but as it did not have a proper activation key...i just did not care about it

I answered that.

Yes. You can go to the Microsoft website, login, and find the section where it lists your devices.

As long as you install with same version (Home), it will just automatically active itself. The key is stored on mobo. And it doesn't matter whether you use manufacturers premade copy or install clean with ISO from Microsoft directly. Source: Me doing this with 2 laptops so far.
