HD 6450 video decoding

Will the HD 6450 work well for video streaming? It'll be used for DVD playback as well as streaming from Twitch, Prime Video, Hulu, and Netflix.

it depends... with UVD3.0 you can expect hw decoding fullHD MPEG2, DivX, VC1, h.264 (theoretically). but there are some software limitations (OS, drivers, player) and hardware limitations. for example, HW acceleration may not work due to non-standard encoding settings (strange video file resolution, very high bitrate)/

Probably not.

 

It'll probably be fine for DVDs, since it's UVD 3 supports H.264 hardware acceleration at up to 1080p. But it lacks support for any modern codecs so the CPU will end up doing much if not all of the decoding itself.  It probably won't be a very good experience unless you pair it with a pretty powerful CPU that can handle the real-time software decoding.

I will go with a Quadro k420 instead as the k620 has been recommended several times as good for video decoding and the k420 supports the same stuff but is a bit less powerful, needs less power, runs cooler and therefore probably quieter and is cheaper.
