System boots fine*. Dell software assistant says all up to date. Confirmed latest bios. Recently swapped PSU. Internal “rp4 aux pwr” is solid amber too. Wasn’t booting without GTX 1070 installed, was just getting temporary fan spin then dead then fans spin then dead etc.

had plugged psu directly into wall in on position while system was off. Saw spark at wall and I think system tried booting but can’t remember.  Could I have shorted something?

running full Dell system tester. All components tested complete except hard drive. Still waiting.

You did plug in a 4 pin cpu header right? Not a pcie power cable into the board?

These dells don't always play nice with a psu upgrade. But the xps 8700 should work and as long as all the correct cables are plugged in it is a go.

The led on the board is supposed to be on as it's an indicator power is being recieved. It turns green when the system passes a post check.

Worst case you try with the old psu again.

Also what new psu did you get?

Thermaltake 700w 80+ white. Seemed to be the most reliable cheap one.

the internal aux pwr stays yellow. Completed tests and nothing seems wrong. Previous owner says power button was replaced and has been yellow since ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I’m gonna double check with old PSU and another PSU I know is fine today.
