Just a Typical Build

imthewalrus

So you clicked the post and you are wondering, why did you pick that name? Well it is black and red like most computer themed builds, and I already had some spare parts that could go along with the overall theme. The purpose of this build is to play Skyrim heavily modded in high settings at 1440p, as well as some less known games (goat simulator)  with a minimum budget. I also needed it to render images using adobe suite, and for coding.

I want to say thanks to AsRock because the provider of whom I bought the motherboard sold me an open box item and refused it. However AsRock customer service not only provided me with the missing accessories but they were quick about it too.

Parts:

Motherboard:

- AsRock z68 Fatal1ty motherboard

Processor:

- Intel core i7 2600k

Graphics Card:

- Asus HD 7790 (1 GB)

Memory:

- Patriot Viper Extreme (1 x 8gb)

Storage:

- Seagate 1 TB Hybrid Desktop Drive

Power Supply:

- Corsair CX600M

Case:

- Cougar solution ATX (black)

Cooling:

- Cooler Master Hyper T4 (just the heatsink, the stock fan sucks)

- 1 x Corsair SP 120

- 2 x Bitfenix 120mm Fans (don't know which model)

- 1 x Cougar 120mm CF-V12

Peripherals:

- Monitor: QNIX 28" 1440p QX2710 LED

- Keyboard: Corsair K40

- Mouse: Logitech Soccer mouse.

This is the case. I am quite impressed about this case, it does its job pretty darn well.

I have installed most things, I am just waiting in the monitor and keyboard to get it started.

I hate the new ASRock boards. Ew. Our old one was good. Mid-end Athlon 64 and GTA Vice City running maxed out at over 720p. Using onboard graphics.

Anyway, I still like it.

Why do you hate the new ones so much? I have always liked AsRock because they are affordable and reliable, in my opinion of course.

Wireless G?!?!?

Yes, unfortunately my college campus doesn't have ethernet ports.

I've seen my friends use them and they failed. A lot. They are affordable, though, and even the shitty ones like mine will REALLY push the CPU to its limits (and even go past the 95 watt max).

I have heard they overclock like a dream, however I'm not planning on doing so for now. The only major problem I have heard from AsRock is in their h61 boards and memory compatibility.

You may want to move the video card to the top PCI slot.

If I move it up to the first PCIx16 slot then I wouldn't be able to have the wireless card because the heatsink from the gpu would block the PCI slot. But no worries, they are both PCIx16 slots without any intermediary chip, so I hope they provide the same performance.

just a typical build but with very good pics

good job man

Thank you I appreciate the feedback!

The truth is that the I had the i7 laying around. I bought it about a year ago really cheap on eBay from a seller in China that had it at around 120 dollars (that is less than the i5 2500k).

Looks great to be honest. Only thing I would add would be an extentions so the 24pin rainbow is gone :P

Good job :)

Note that I'm not responsible for eye damage due to poor grammar and spelling.

Good job :)

What is funny is that I recently ordered some cheap sleeved extensions for the PCI connector and the 24 pin. I also ordered another case with a window (later on with that). I will be uploading pictures as soon as I get them.
