Hello,

So I have a question my main system has a Onboard 2.5 Gb Ethernet. I was wondering if I get a RJ45 to SFP+ module will I be able to get the 2.5Gb. The one I am looking at is as follows and the switch I am looking at is:

 Wiitek 10GBase-T 10G RJ45 to SFP+ Copper Transceiver 30-Meter, Compatible for Cisco SFP-10G-T-S, Ubiquiti, D-Link, Supermicro, Netgear, Mikrotik (Cat 6a/7) : Amazon.ca: Electronics

MikroTik - CRS305-1G-4S+in - CRS305-1G-4S+in : Amazon.ca: Electronics

Yes I already have Cat6A cable in the walls. There is two other systems I am waiting on NIC cards to setup 10Gb internet on them a NAS server and a Download Server. The other reason i am seeing if i can do this is because add up Cable cost NIC cost and SFP+ cost it is more them a RJ45 to SFP+ module.

Thank you,

Matthew Stewart

Everything has to support 2.5 Gbps. What I mean by that is this, just because a switch is rated for 10 Gbps, doesnt mean it will do 2.5 or 5 Gbps, because these are newer standards and older devices wont have the support. So you would need to dig to find out that both the modules and switch, the NIC and Cabling all supports the standard.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
