Hello,

So far Linus has helped me via Youtube messages and has been really helpful so thanks a lot to him for that. I am looking at the 3770K. Do you still recommend that i get the 3770K? I will be mostly using the pc to do software development, game development and other development related things therefore a lot of multi tasking on the system. Would the 3770K be a good option to go with? If not then what would you recommend. Also, another thing, will the future upcoming 8 core processors by intel support this chipset (Z77) ? I am checking out the ATI 7870 I have a 32" monitor. Will it work fine with the rest? I do not want to have a bottleneck. If there is another card which is cheaper and or performs better or about the same then please let me know. Components i am looking at so far:

MSI MPower Motherboard

Intel i7 3770K

Corsair H100i

Patriot Viper 3 1600 16GB RAM (Already have it)

Cooler Master Haf X case (Already have it)

ATI 7870 Graphics Card

Kind Regards,

Gunit.

For your needs, the 3770k seems like a good choice. The Z77 chipset is limited to 1155 socket ( i believe ), so that's Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge. Unfortunately, the next Intel line up, Haswell, will be on a new socket, 1150, and therefore a new Chipset.

The 7870 is a great card, and will be fine for your monitor, you shouldn't have nay bottlenecks. Have you thought about adding and SSD at all, to really boost those load times and the like?

Thanks a lot.

looks great. be shure to overclock your 3770k!

Yes, i do plan to. That's why i got the water cooling. :)

Three questions. - Is there a budget? - What is your monitor's resolution? - Are you sure you don't want to fit an SSD in there somewhere?

Yes. I plan to get this build done in under £500. However, please do note that i do have some parts already such as the RAM and case and therefore should not be included in the build. If it is possible in the budget then i would love to include a SSD. The resolution is 1920x1080 i believe.

Between the CPU, the cooler and the motherboard alone you already seem to be scraping the high-400s. The GPU takes you roughly £100 over budget.

I'd suggest investing a little less in the CPU cooler, unless you plan to overclock like a madman. I'm also wondering if there's anything you particularly want out of the motherboard you've chosen? Otherwise your needs could probably be fulfilled by something a little cheaper there too.

I do plan to achieve up to 4.6Ghz on that CPU. As for the motherboard, i like that it is OC certified, supports the RAM i need. Has 3 PCIe express slots which i require for future upgrades. Also has bluetooth and Wifi built in which also means i have to spend less money. I also find it more reliable than the ones i have had a look at. As for the graphics card, is there any other one which can perform about the same if overclocked?

Kind Regards,

Another thing, i am looking for a good modular psu which is also suitable for full tower case such as the HAF X which i got. How many Watts will be enough for me? I was thinking of getting the Corsair builder series 750W. Please note that i plan to have at least two of these cards in there (Adding 1 in the future).

Thanks a lot.

750w will be fine for two 7870s. Considering your budget, the modular CX750 is a decent choice.

As for the CPU cooler and motherboard, you don't need the h100 to hit 4.6Mhz. The OC certified thing is also pretty much sheer marketing from MSI...It doesn't mean much. Consider the Gigabyte Z77X-D3H, or the Biostar TZ77XE3 (great motherboard, available at EBuyer. Both should be capable of hitting 4.6GHz. The Gigabyte's UEFI Bios is a little flashier and easier to work with, but I think the Biostar might have a better PCI-E slot layout for what you want, plus it overclocks a little further (source).

You can run crossfire 7870s with a decent 650W. I can recommend the Seasonic X650 as a great unit, for a great price right now @ scan.

For the MOBO' date=' you could save £20 from "Scan". I don't know that website, but if it's on PCpartPicker.com, it must be a good website. [url']http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/part/msi-motherboard-z77mpower

It is actually more on Scan after adding the VAT and the postage costs.
