I'm on an alienware 17 r4, I got a notification at the bottom right stating I had updates available (5 updates in total) all updates where going well up until update #5 which was the bios update. At first the progress bar was seemingly stuck at about half way for about 10 mins then my screen suddenly went blank (I don't know if the progress bar was full when it went blank since my attention wasn't on the screen atm) and it's been so for about an hour now the mouse cursor is still on the screen and I can still move it around, I can also dim and brighten my screen via function+F9 and F10 but that's about it the windows key isn't doing anything when pressed and I'm afraid to press the power button to hard restart I don't know what to do can someone please help or give any advice 😞

wow im surprised you got through every single one so fast ,

If the machine is set to sleep when the lid is closed maybe that will do something if you close it then open it.

But if the software is locked up then the software isn;t going to help you so a restart may be inevitable
