Laptop temps seem a bit weird. Temps increase by around 15 degrees when I switch to turbo mode. Isn't turbo mode supposed to increase fan speed to aid in cooling? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Video attached for reference. (i7 10750H, 1660Ti, Far Cry 3). The temperature seems to reach around 95 degrees when on turbo (max fans) and stays at high 70s when on silent (comparatively lesser fan speed).

To me this seems right.

Turbo mode as I understand will increase the CPU clock speed, causing a rise in temps. This will give more performance.

Silent mode, as the name suggests, should keep the fans at a low rpm. To do this, it has to get the CPU temps down, which should be done by lowering the clock speed.

I hope this explains it.

I am getting pretty fucking sick and tired of the "watch something else" responses. It's such a cop out answer because you could say that about basically anything, and it doesn't address the actual complaints. People use it as some kind of card they pull when they can't actually respond to the criticism raised but they still feel like they need to defend some company/person. If you don't like this thread then stop reading it. See how stupid it is? It's basically like telling someone "shut the fuck up". It's not a clever responsive, it doesn't address anything said, and it is rude.

Depends on the laptop. Which one is this? I assume an Asus?

Their turbo mode is basically a let it rip mode. The laptop can just boost as high as it wants with fans running as fast as they can. So yeah the laptop does run hotter because it's going at max performance.

Is there any way to increase fan speed and manually keep the clock speeds low?

For fan speeds - just use the manual tab and set the rpm to the desired speeds

For clock speeds - use Throttlestop and gpu clocking software like MSI Afterburner to change clock ratio and limit clock speed

Ryzen 7 5700X3D (CO -30) - AX370-Gaming 5 - 2x16GB @3600C18 - EVGA RTX 3070 8G XC3

I recommend you leave it on auto so you don't wear out the fans quicker. Is the laptop overheating (as in 100c+ on cpu and 83c+ on the gpu) or is it just hot?

Nope. Never crossed 96 on the CPU and 80 on the GPU. It's just hot.

Are these temps bad?

Ok so leave it be. Normal temps for a intel based laptop pretty much.

If you really want to lower em you can just tell windows in power delivery settings to only allow the cpu to run at a max of x%. Or you undervolt it.
