For my new gaming rig I want a 4K monitor, However I don't know if i should get lcd, led, oled, or qled. I have heard of oled and qled having burn in issues for static objects such as HUD's and Stat bars. Is it worth it to get an oled even though it might have burn in or should i get a different type of monitor?

You don't need to worry about OLED burn in if you're planning to use it mostly for gaming and media content. If you're doing something that has static images then you can try to minimise burn in risk by using dark mode, hide taskbar and icons, but better solution is getting a seperate monitor specifically for static usages.

Both OLED and QLED have their own pros and cons, but I think room ambient lighting is an important factor: QLED is better for bright, daylight room while OLED is better at night or dimmer ambient lighting. By the way QLED don't suffer burn in like OLED, but eventually all panels would naturally degrade over time anyway.

To answer your question: Yes, OLED is worth it and don't worry about burn in too much. But if your room is too bright and no way of treating it, or still paranoid about burn in then QLED is also fine. You'll be happy either way.

Ok, I was just worried because i wouldn't be upgrading from a monitor like that for at least a couple years. But thank you for the response

OLED is the better tech when it comes to image quality and motion clarity. Period. Yes, the brightness is lower than QLED, but the better contrast more than makes up for that.

But there are some issues when using it as a PC monitor. Watch this video to find out about them:

(Careful, like most of the time the title and thumbnail doesn't really match the content. It's not just a rant on "how bad OLED is")

This video is a great to see how an OLED stacks up with other "conventional" LCD high-end monitors:

TLDW: OLED has (imo) many more pros than cons. As long as you're not using it for work multiple hours each day, burn-in will not be an issue for a long time. Case in point: My 2019 C9 OLED still doesn't have any signs of burn-in whatsoever. Likely because i have a healthy useage-mix of movies, series, browsing, gaming. I use auto-hiding HUD whenever possible and avoid static elements as best as i can.

If your usecase is content consumption, not creation, then OLED is the best you can have in terms of picture quality and HDR support and burn-in is not a big concern.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

IMHO, if you game a lot, your HUD is a risk factor for burn-in.

Thats what i am worried about. I play alot of minecraft and it has a static hud. Though by the time i get it. Burn in might not be an issue.

With minecraft there is a very simple fix: Use a texture pack that makes the HUD darker.
