Budget (including currency): Nothings off the table

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Rocket League, Apex, Splitgate, Far Cry, Battlefield, Call of Duty, GTA, DIRT, FORZA, Maya, Substance Painter, Adobe

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I’ve slowly updated my system over the years. I ended up building it in late 2017/early 2018. I’m still in school and due to the pandemic use it for light work in substance painter, adobe programs and 3D Maya. Usually it would be mainly for gaming with my friends and light streaming through twitch. While I’ve been getting somewhat solid work throughout, games like Apex Legends other games tend to give some hiccups through games, even often seeing my CPU at 86% usage and hearing all the fans in the computer running rampant. I’m not sure if that’s in any way an indication that it may be time for something new, but with more and more games that I’m interested in the looking to see what would be my next upgrade path.

cpu, you wont find a gpu for a good price atm. since you have 3600 ghz ram you can upgrade the cpu and motherboard without the ram. maybe try the ryzen 5 5600x or if you want to spend a good buck then you can get the ryzen 5800x.

If you can stand the wait, hold out until the end of the year for when AMD and Intel are planning on announcing their next gen CPUs, or at least until Black Friday to see if there's any crazy good deals they have (Micro Center in 2019 sold the R7 2700X for $120, and in 2020 sold the 9700k for $200). Alder Lake (Intel's next gen CPUs) are rumored to be awesome, and AMD's next gen CPUs are rumored to put up a pretty good fight.

If however, you can't wait, a budget is probably necessary. You can upgrade it to something like a 10850k or a 5800X, or depending on budget go up or down the CPU stack.

I'm so confused... You posted the i5-7500, but you for real have 3600MHz with that one? If you do have it, it's just set to 2400MHz or whatever, right? o_O

I would recommend a solid $900'ish upgrade. Maybe even more, if you want more SSD storage (just get more WD Blue 2.5" SSDs tbh).

I added a WD SN750, so that you'll have an actual m.2 NVME SSD, which should load Windows and everything a little faster. 😉 Keep the RTX 2060 for sure! That's still a very solid gpu. You were just limited by your current cpu, yes.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor  ($289.99 @ Amazon)

Motherboard: MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($173.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory  ($0.00)

Storage: Western Digital WD Blue 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($0.00)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB XC BLACK GAMING Video Card  ($0.00)
Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case  ($94.99 @ Best Buy)
Power Supply: Corsair RM (2019) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  ($114.99 @ Amazon)

Case Fan: Corsair ML140 Pro 97 CFM 140 mm Fan  ($30.74 @ Amazon)
$880.37

I would alternatively recommend this list below. It'll get you some RGB fans in there, so more fans than the 4000D Airflow comes with (even though I added another two in the above list). The (included with case) lighting node device will connect to the RGB cables of the fans, which will then connect to the Commander Pro. Commander Pro just connects to the motherboard, so you won't have to worry about a bunch of cables showing in the front there.
