I’m having a hard time deciding between the MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE and the ASUS ROG X570 CROSSHAIR VIII EXTREME. I’ll be running with an R9 5950x and an RTX 3090. I actually already have the Godlike, however Asus just released this new rog board and it seems similar in comparison with a few things I like that the godlike doesn’t have. Overall which would be the better board?

ASUS: https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-crosshair/rog-crosshair-viii-extreme-model/

thanks

Both are good boards. What specifics are you looking to compare?

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Linux - Fedora

Both are extremely overkill anyways so dont bother buying a new board, plus at this price range you are looking at extreme overclocking boards and the crosshair is an extreme overclocking board, so dont even bother unless you do some heavy overclocking, and no one ever overclocks anymore even with a high end board anyways cause unless you are on intel and manage 5.3 or more overclocking is pretty much pointless nowadays

And why the hell do you have a msi godlike anyways? Those things are uber expensive

Well I noticed that the new x570 boards were revised to have passive cooling, rather than the fan on board. I was wondering if there were any more benefit to that. Also, the differences in power phases between the two, as well as the bios compatibility will ryzen 5000 and windows 11. I was reading that upgrading to windows 11 had certain requirements and wasn’t sure the godlike would be able to and that the rog board comes compatible with it already. I was also wanting to water cool the system too, and was wondering if one might be better for that.

That makes sense, I’ve just been upgrading over the past year, and honestly godlike just sounded really badass. Plus, it had some pretty cool features and it went with the aesthetic I was wanting to go for.  I just wanted all the best stuff I guess.

Yea you prob arent even gonna be able to fully utilise all of those features anyways, esp the vrm since even if you do heavy ocing that vrm will handle it very well
