Budget (including currency): like 900 today and like 600-700usd for a GPU later on

Country: United states

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: comp fps(csgo,Valo), league, AAA story game(Outer worlds, Halo Infinite, ect), hopefully cad type stuff in the future

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): im going to keep my 1070 untill i can buy a card a 3070 at msrpish, i need it to be Mitx and preferably in the Lian Li TU-150. This is what i was thinking(https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PPJnYg), am i doing any thing wrong or does this look good. I also have storage and Ram

Might want to push that PSU another 50w, or maybe even 100 just to be really sure. Possible is a thing, but it’s not a sure thing.  I’d say any big air is good enough and just about every company makes one.  Whatever the best deal is.  Tempted to push the motherboard too just to make things simpler. I’m not seeing any memory on there.  It may matter a lot.  Also there’s no monitor, keyboard or mouse.  Also I’m not convinced a 3070 will ever see msrp until the 40 series stuff comes out.  I’m not sure this is feasible.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

The issue is transient voltage jumps.  Both the 3070 and 5800 do it. The average is way lower but you have to cover the highs. Most of the time the draw will be lower and you won’t even need 700.  It’s those fractions of a second highs that can trip OCP that are the bugbear. 700w has a good 80%+ chance of being fine.  It’s the 100%+ that the 800 might be wanted for.  Mostly because if it hits 751 for a sec things go down.  With 800 there basically isn’t a chance of there being a problem.  My druthers would be 750 over 700 though myself.  It’s kind of like that b450 board.  It could work, should work, but will it?  There’s a whole lot of scraping the bottom edge on this thing.  The part I saw that doesn’t is the cooler.   My move for the cooler would likely be to budget $75 with paste.  Smaller cooler but good paste.  Looking for a decent 750w semi modular PSU might also be a move if there is one around.  Save a few $ or keep it the same for a smidge more oomph.  There’s still the memory and the monitor which are both kind of big ticket and not mentioned.

The motherboard doesn't support a USB-C front panel port. I personally don't like builds with non functional front panel ports. The motherboard also strikes me as marginal for the cpu.

Build does not include memory or storage.

Did you consider a 5600X. The savings would make it easier to meet budget.

i kinda want 8 cores, the budget is rather flexable, i might buy a used/referb x570 board for $180
