Your board WILL NOT HANDLE A i9. Flat out not happening.

What psu do you have? Model not just wattage. Also what speed does your ram run at? Is it a 2x4gb kit?

You are indeed correct that your i3 is very much so the issue/going to be the issue here for new games.

You can easily fit a ryzen 3600 or intel i5 10400 + board + more ram in your budget.

Maybe something like this?

I think i went overkill with the ram so if you dont need 32gb you can save ~50£ if you get 16gb 3200 cl16 vengeance lpx rams

Since you are only using a gtx 1060 your psu should be fine, though if you do cut the ram to 16gb might aswell upgrade the psu to an 850w unit

What? One of the worst b550 boards + a underpowered cooler for a 5800x? That is just asking for trouble.

Good cpu cheap too great for gaming feel free to get something better or 11th gen

Cooler is in there JUST in case you don't have mounting hardware for the new platform

Board is solid nothing special

Ram is good

Psu is on sale rn and an excellent replacement as the evga w1 is a shitty psu and I'd not trust it to be pushed further.

Its not like op is even ocing anyways

should i just swap the cooler for a se 224 xt?

And is a board like a b550 pro vdh any better than the ds3h?

And im pretty sure that the title for worst board goes to the asrock hdv boards

Don't get this it's really bad the board does NOT handle a 5800x and the cooler is NOT AT ALL capable of cooling a 5800x

That board can't handle 8 cores it's too bad. The 5800x demands over hyper 212 class coolers. Pro vdh has the same issue.

Are you talking about the board not being optimal for 8 core cpus?

That would make sense since its basically a 5 phase for the cpu but then again if you dont turn on pbo then you prob wont run into any problems, and w pbo turned off temps will prob be alot cooler

Pretty much one of the best board in the 80£ price range since the vdh is the same thing and the b550m aorus elite has the same vrm from the looks of it, b550a pro is only 20£ more so prob a good idea to get that instead

H212 is decent but for 40£ is wayyy overpriced, might aswell just get a noctua at that point and enjoy the quality + customer support

If I change ur cpu with Intel Core i9-9900k 3.6GHz 8-core processor , do I have to make any other changes ? like mother board ? or cpu cooler , ram , psu ?

  •

Yes a a lot of changes as the 9900k is older by now and more expensive than a 10700f that is better. The board and cooler will NOT work with the 9900k.

The 5800x is simply put not what they should go for in this budget as they have too much other stuff that needs a upgrade too to do this safely. I can NOT recommend the a 5800x on something less than a b550 A-pro the absolute minimum board I recommend for it.

Yeah the 212 isn't a good price but it's always available hence why I say a 212 class cooler. Which is NOT applicable for a 5800x.

Since op NEEDS a new cpu, board, more ram and psu (probably cooler too) the 5800x is NOT what they should get as there is a lot better value parts.

Im gonna assume that "safely" is reffering to hassle free, cause its not like the b550 ds3h has such garbage vrms that it would literally catch fire, maybe a b550m hdv could catch fire

In that case i do see your point, cause if ops psu is too weak they might experience shutdows or the psu just dies

Board wise if op did decide to turn on pbo the boards vrms may get pretty hot so the board will have a shorter life (assuming vrms reach above 105c)

Considering that going for slightly more expensive parts can give op less of a hassle then id say its worth it to just go safe, buy a better psu, and a better board

I might be missing some thing but when the I3-10100F or 10105F are so close to the top tier CPU's and they are half the price of a i5 and a 3rd of the price of the cheapest ryzen 5000. Why would anyone need anything more for a gamming set up?

For just over £600

you could get a

I3-10105F £75

A H5XX mother board (check it supports 10th and 11th gen) £65

2 x8 GB 3200MHz Ram kit £55

&

a RX 6600 XT £430

Your most budget friendly option is a i5-8XXX and an extra 8GB of RAM (try to match speed and timings.)
