I have Lenovo Legion y540 which comes with Samsung M471A1K43DB1-CTD 8gb 2666 MHz 1.2V ddr4 ram and I want to upgrade it to 16 GB.

Should I get the same module or can I go with some other module (I'm thinking of Crucial, CT8G4SFRA266 8gb 2666 MHz 1.2V ddr4, because it's cheaper)?

You can use a different module but be aware that both modules will run at the lowest common specification.

Both the models look similar to me apart from the brand (but then I am not an expert). Do you think that they are not similar in specifications?

They might differ in latency timings (the spec sheets don't list them out completely), however I corrected my post because what I said only applies when using different modules on the same channel.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨
