There isn't an i3 3670k, the 3670k is an AMD A6 chip.

You could plop an A8 3870K on it, but it would be a marginal upgrade.

I'd just go with a platform change when you want to a noticeable worthwhile upgrade.

Since the CPU you say you have (i3 3670k) does not exist, we need to confirm what platform you're actually on before we could make suggestions.

It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Correction - CPU is Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz     -- I was at work when I posted this lol but yeah the whole system is really old. But changing to a whole new setup with the current issues is a bit more than I wanna deal with. I was going to build a whole new system in march but in the meantime I would at least like to be able to stream my games

and my mother board is a msi z77a-gd55

The absolute best you could do is a 3770/3770K, but they're really not worth their current prices (and this is coming from someone with a 3770).

But since you have a GTX 650, there's no reason why you should be trying to do CPU encoding when you have NVENC as an option.

Now see. the issue with that is. That you assume I have a clue what NVENC means or cpu encoding. I know that streamlabs has a check box for automatic optimization and I click that?

old i7s tend to be very overpriced, i recommend getting an e3 xeon.
Your Mobo's cpu support list: https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-MSI/Z77A-GD55.html
Specifically the e3 1240 v2 or the e3 1270 v2, if you're still going to upgrade your cpu

(those cpu's performance are virtually identical to the i7s for a fraction of the price)

Are the ones from aliexpress any good though? every time I have considered things off that site, their shipping cost and times have been insane and usually like a quantity minimum you have to order

you could check your country's shopping sites, i'm sure they'd still be cheaper than the i7s

they have free shipping to where i live, and i have ordered a few lga 775 and 1155 cpus with no problems. although import taxes usually offset my savings for buying on aliexpress

so which one are you getting?

the e3 1270 is equal to the i7 2600

while

the e3 1240 v2 is roughly equal to the i7 3770
