Can you guys do a build for a friend of mine? he wants to get back into PC Gaming and wants me to build a PC for him. He said he wanted it to be cheap but still good (So an APU, maybe?) but he also needs a monitor mouse and keyboard. Can you guys help? Thanks. BTW he didn't set a budget but he said cheap but good, too.

You will need to give us more details.  Budget is necessary, also what peripherals does he need? Does he need an operating system?  Cheap is vague.

Can you give us a reasonable amount? When you say APU I think of something that's extremely budget oriented.

I would say $500 on the PC and try not to over do it with the peripherals. Also, no need to add the OS, as I already have Windows 8.1 from my recent build.

He said like $500

Yes, I saw that after I posted my build that I created before getting all the info.  He should spend that extra $150 to get a dedicated GPU though.

It's overpriced for it's performance. The build I put would definitely run better for cheaper. The 7770 + Athlon 740K is > 7850K in gaming. Also, your build is almost $750. I thought the budget was ~ $500? Lol

Are there benchmarks on that? i would think it would be but I'm still worried about price since this isn't my money.

@ 1080p, the 7770 averages around 25 FPS on BF4 @ Ultra. The 7850K averages like 12. There are no side by side comparisons, but you can definitely look up benchmarks seperately and compare. The 7850K has an R7 GPU if I'm not mistaken (the 250) which is significantly worse than the 7770.

Of course, I doubt you'll be playing bf4 at ultra with a $500 build, but it's just giving you an idea. The 7770 can be like 60% faster than the 7850Ks iGPU

R7 250 is ~ 7730 which is < 7750 < 7770.

How is the R7 260 over the  7770?

The Non-X? I'm not so sure. The 260X is somewhat a step up (basically a 7790) from the 7770. More energy effecient and new reference design. If you can get it for cheap (ie less than $125), then it's definitely a good option to go for.

Get the 760k for $5 more and then you're good.

Get a cheaper SSD (the 120/128GB ones that are like $70) and don't spend so much on a non mechanical keyboard. If you're not going to overclock, you also don't need a CM Hyper 212 EVO. Also, unless you specifically need to play CDs/DVDs, and optical drive isn't necessary. Case is a good option as well, but you don't need to spend so much on one unless you have the funds too.

What keyboard and SSD should I get? I need an optical drive for OS, and he might buys games at walmart/gamestop, too.
