I am having trouble with my ping, I get 200 down and 300 up but on speedtest I get 27 ping to a location about 170 miles from my house. I have fiber but I dont understand why I get such high ping. some days I'll get 6 ping but most of the time it says 27-30. are there any fixes? Im putting in ethernet soon but even on ethernet I get 27 ping.. In games I get 40-70..

It could just be that you've got a mediocre route to that server. Your speedtest ping doesn't matter though, only your ping in games, and that looks fine to me.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My problem is that I should be getting 15-30 ping in game, when the route to the servers are right I get great in game ping but 40-70 feels unplayable.

Run trace route on the server IP from you machine.

You should be able to see where is the "holdup"

In most cases, this is just bad routing.

As a side note, distance from your server has nothing to do with Pings 😉

The packet may travel to the other side of the country before it is getting to the server.

Thank you! It is definitely a routing problem, I'll have to contact my ISP about this soon.

Good luck. Your ISP doesn’t have total control of the traffic over the internet. They only control traffic on their network. They themselves then connect in to a back bone provider who connects all these service providers together. The route could be on a back bone providers network, so calling your ISP could be a waste of time.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

right, I have a less reliable ISP to begin with, but its all Im provided in my area. I will see if I can fix this and get the ping I should be getting.
