Intel Xeon E3-1230V3

It looks like this and i admit, its damn ugly lol

post-53144-0-08756100-1396985828_thumb.j

Because i hate the looks of it, i plan on rebuilding the system until summer. Here are my potential Upgrades (They are most likely to change)

The Case is most likely to change, since its just too big for what i need it to do. Im thinking of going the mATX route, since im going to a few lan partys later this summer. Not mITX since you cant SLI with it and i am really thinking of adding a second 760.

The cases im considering are:

-The Xigmatek Aquila mATX Case

US Link: (Can't find it anywhere on amazon.com, will add Link if i see it on there)

-The Bitfenix Prodigy M

Considering my current Motherboard is an ATX one, i will need to buy a new motherboard. For the choice of Motherboards, i havent got really that many. Its basicly come down to one which is the:

-Gigabyte GA-Z87MX-D3H

German Link: http://www.amazon.de/Gigabyte-GA-Z87MX-D3H-Mainboard-micro-ATX-Speicher/dp/B00D5F4XC8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1396979434&sr=8-1&keywords=Gigabyte++GA-Z87MX-D3H

US Link: http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-1150-mATX-Motherboard-GA-Z87MX-D3H/dp/B00CU4L4XG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1396986503&sr=8-1&keywords=Gigabyte+ga-z87mx-d3h

This is the only Motherboard that really fits my needs, its SLI compatible, Z87 Chipset (I know i cant overclock the Xeon, i kind of trust the Z87 Chipset more than the other ones though) and has a really nice looking matt-black PCB.

CPU Coolers i`ve thought of upgrading to:

I know the Xeon doesnt get hot, i really like the looks of a closed Loop watercooler though, that would be important in the case of the Xigmatek Aquila since it has a Window and thats the case im liking more ATM.

The Cooler(s) im considering:

-The Corsair H100i

German Link: http://www.amazon.de/Corsair-Extreme-Performance-Wasserk%C3%BChler-CW-9060009-WW/dp/B009ZN2NH6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1396986768&sr=8-1&keywords=Corsair+H100i

The Corsair H80i (Links comming soon, too much work at my tablet though)

In recent Months, im working more and more with Photo and Video Editing. Some extra Ram would be nice so im thinking of buying another 2 Sticks of RAM to add up to a total of about 24gb of RAM

-G.Skill RipjawsX Series 16gb (2x8gb) 1600MHz/CL9

German Link: http://www.amazon.de/G-Skill-RipjawsX-Arbeitsspeicher-240-polig-DDR3-RAM/dp/B007CCV1TI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1396987061&sr=8-2&keywords=G.Skill+RipjawsX+16gb

Thats the upgrades im thinking of for now. And i promise. I will get a camera until then to take some pictures of the progress and maybe even a video :-)

Speaking of mATX cases with SLI capabilities, have you looked at Fractal Design Arc Mini R2?

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

I dont know what is up with me, but Fractal Cases really dont appeal to me that much, the define r4 is nice and all but (in my opinion) there are better and better looking cases out there.

Thanks for the reply

Oh well, tastes differ.

On topic: SSD would be a good addition, even a small one.

Hm, I've been looking at Prodigy M and it seems you can either put two graphic cards or 240mm rad there, not both. Although H80i/H60 in push-pull should be able to cool the Xeon with no problems.

Oh and neither of your Xigmatek Aquila links works for me :(

God damn it! :D

By the way, what do you think of the 980x? for about 350 EUR or something like 400$?

Or would a i7 970 for 150-200€ be a better deal? Does it oc well? Is a 980x much better?

Or(many ors) a 3930k/4930k for 300/350€. Would have to buy the mainboard at a later time then

No thoughts on 970/980x, I have literally no experience with them. 3930/4930K - I don't really see why would you need them.

Push/pull. Does that increase the cooling capacity? Didnt linus or somemother dude make a vid about that sometime? Anyways, push/pull is too bulky for me, a single 120/140 rad may actually be eniu for the xeon, the prodigy m has a big problem for me: i want a window and i cant find any prodigys with windows, i like the prodigy more than the aquila but no window no buy. Would have to mod it, may actually do that dont know yet

It probably would be 4-6 C higher with single fan, no problems there. You might try to get windowed panel separately, if Bitfenix sells one.

ill contact bitfenix on that, thanks!

**Edit**

Seems like the prodigy side panels fit the prodigy m aswell, found some windowed sidepanels for about 12€@caseking.de. The H80i is the one ill probably go with, i can get it for about 60€ebay
