Hi I'm new here so please be nice!!

I was wondering how one would go about braiding their in-ear earphone cords with a nylon/cotton/cloth material? Perhaps to match the texture of paracord or a shoelace?

Thanks in advance for your time!

PS. I am looking at buying new in-ear earphones for everyday use so they must be durable (hence the original question) and must have full mic/play/pause compatibility for iPhone 4s - if anyone has any suggestions I'm looking to pay anywhere under £40 ($60 USD)

I have some V-Moda earphones and they have braided cables. One disadvantage I've

noticed is that the sound of the cable rubbing against something transmits very

well into your ear. Personally I don't really notice it unless I actually pay

attention, but it's clearly audible.

The problem with braiding earphone wires is that they're very thin, I'm not sure

how good the result would turn out.

Another possibility would be actual braided wire. You can find loads of them on

eBay, it would probably take you a while to sift through the results, but maybe

something's in there that would suit your wishes (search for something like

"fabric wire" "cloth wire" or "fabric cable" etc., that gets me a ton of results,

but I'm not sure which of those would be useful to you.

New earphones with braided wires really aren't that expensive, are you sure this

would be worth the hassle? It's your time and effort of course, but personally

I don't think it would be worth it to me. ;)

This is a first, you could always just find in ear earphones that have a braided cable. I'm sure there are plentt out there

Not normally. Sleeving costs money, decent audio company's will usually spend that extra money on improving the sound, unless of course it is a high end custom iem or whatever.

Thank you so much for all your responses guys; very impressed!

Will definitely be using these forums again hahaha... I eventually went for "House of Marley" headphones,  the "People Get Ready" series in a "Midnight" colour. They ticked all the boxes (in-line mic, braided cord, right-angle connector, not too expensive) and they ran me £25 ($39) - waiting for amazon to deliver them to me right now!
