BIOS UPDATING QUESTION - MSI MAG B550M MORTAR [NO WIFI]

Hello my system doesn't post, so i've decided to update my BIOS.

My system is builded already, so my question is should i remove all the components installed or there is no need and nothing to worry about?
Im confused since some people say it needs to be performed on bare board only, some say it doesnt matter....So its up to you guys to help me out.

Potentially brick the board because you have it set up is a Bullshit statement. Which U-Toober is that?

Once upon a time, you couldn't update bios without the system built.

It won't matter. Cpu and ram installed or not, you should be able to update bios either way. It does not matter.

A system not posting "means" that it doesn't get to the motherboard splash screen or BIOS, I was just confirming. You should be fine to update your BIOS with no issue. The most common way of bricking your MoBo is with loss of power during the update. You should be fine.

Mike's unboxing.... wonder what made him say flashing with cpu installed would brick the board. Maybe a bad experience once?

Are you updating for cpu support then? Or the system won't post and you are trying a flash.

What is the rig specs. That may help some.

I am updating, because I did notice that the CPU light on the debug indicator comes on for 3-4 seconds when I turn the PC on but then goes off and the VGA light comes on solid and stays on & there is no screen, so im hoping my VGA light will be fixed after the update.

Gotcha. So its not cpu related Any ways.

Hope it works. If not, test with another gpu, or test your gpu in another rig.

Good luck dude!

GPU works fine in my old system. I've tested with another GPU aswell and still got the VGA light.

Maybe the PCI-E slots on motherboard are dead. I will do the update to see if it will fix it, if not its RIP!
