Hi everyone,

I’m just finalising the details for my first ever AMD build. At the moment I’m looking to use as my CPU the 5600X, as it appears to have gaming performance close to or even sometimes better than it’s more expensive siblings and I will be looking to upgrade it in the future anyway as better AMD CPUs come out. I also plan on switching out the motherboard as well, which is why I’m not spending loads of money on that. I’ve only chosen an 850w power supply mostly to save money although I realise I may need to change that as well as and when I change my CPU.

Does anyone have any opinions on my build? Any tips or suggestions, or any opportunities to save a few pounds? I know my case is expensive but it’s one I really like both the look of and the performance of, so I’m willing to spend a bit more money on it than I otherwise would.

Many thanks!

CPU: 5600X.

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S.

Motherboard: MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk.

GPU: Gigabyte Eagle 3080Ti (already own).

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600MHz (2x8GB).

Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB (x2).

PSU: Fractal Design Ion Gold 850w.

Case: Fractal Design Torrent.

Cooler is of good quality but if you arent ocing just dont bother and get a decent dual tower like the phantom for fuma 2

Board is uneccesary since you arent even running a gen4 nvme, let alone more than one of them, get a b550 a pro instead

Cl18 3600mhz is equal to cl16 3200mhz ram so go for ballistix 3600mhz cl16 rams instead or if you wish to save some money and just overclock your rams to 3600 then buy the cheapest 3200mhz cl16 rams you can find, i suggest silicon power

970 evo are obselete and overpriced trash, they are literally the same price as the sabrent rocket 4.0 which is a much faster gen4 nvme ssd, go for a kingston a2000 or mushkin pilot e instead and they both still have dram cache

Pretty sure fractal design cases are overpriced but as long as you can fit a 5800x just keep it

And yes upgrade your cpu to a 5800x

If you are going to change MB anyway, You are overspending on it too much, You don't need that. You aren't getting Gen 4 NVMe or you can't benefit from X570 at all.

You are overspending on bad drives.

850W power supply will be mostly enough.

So, you have 1500 Euros and already own 3080 TI, why are you buying those parts?

Here is good list.

Look at how much better system I fit in 1200 euros 😄

If you want, you can spend few bucks more to make system RGB... You have remaining money for that too 😄

Thanks for your advice.

I think I’ll change pretty much everything you suggested. Depending on possible timeframes I may upgrade to one of the CPUs AMD is launching early next year. That’s also when I’ll change my mobo, so I’ll definitely go for a cheaper mobo than the one I originally picked.

I would do something like this.

If you don't need wifi then you can swap to the B550 Tomahawk. The B550-A Pro is a decent board but you get a better audio codec on the Tomahawk/Gaming Edge and also 2.5G LAN.

An Arctic Freezer 34 will cope fine with a 5600X.

I would take a single 1TB SSD over 2 x 500GB. The WD SN750 is solid.

Great price for a Platinum rated Corsair unit.

Haven't included the case as I am not sure if the Fractal Torrent is on there. If it is I couldn't see it.
