Honestly in my expirence, each will give you what you need so long as you go for a laptop with a dedicated GPU.

 

I would be looking for what retailers have the best deals for either one. If you can get $100 off an Intel one with same / similar other internals, I would be going for that. 

 

Also, it obviously comes down to exactly what Ryzen series you are looking at.

When it comes to laptop CPU’s specifically, Intel has given better performance over AMD in the past up until some of the 5000 series high end AMD cpus that have just recently come out. You will probably get slightly better performance from intel but like previously mentioned go with whatever you can get a deal on because the difference between the two won’t be massive.

Try going for AMD 5000 series. They're currently the best in performance and even give decent battery life.

Having more cores and efficient ones at that is always a good thing imo.

Also, Intel's naming scheme might give you a headache depending on how much you know 😉
