Recommendations for a beer-resistant basic wired USB Keyboard?

aramini

Had been using a Microsoft 500 spill-proof wired keyboard and logitech mouse for over 10yrs. The keyboard is easy to take apart and clean, but has a PS/2 style connector and my new system doesn't have PS/2 port.

The PS/2 to USB adapters seem to work well for mice (green ones), but I've always had trouble with the purple ones for keyboards.

When I built my current system, I went with the Logitech MK120 Wired Keyboard/Mouse combo for like $20. The mouse is ok, but the keyboard isn't very beer resistant (lol I am being serious, I like to have a few beers while playing Rocket League and have spilt a beer on more than one occasion). The keyboard didn't fry or anything, just a few keys got sticky and won't pop back up after pressing them. Even after popping off the keys and cleaning them, the "<," still sticks.

Not a big gamer, so it doesnt have to have RGB backlighting or any fancy stuff. Just want something basic of decent quality for under $50.

Thanks!

get a washable keyboard.

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Washable-Wired-Keyboard-K310/dp/B008D1JRIO

you really need to wash the keyboard immediately after spilling.

beer or any sodas may corrode the membrane traces if you leave it too long.

Thanks for your reply!

Yeah, that's why I always go with cheaper keyboards, aren't expensive to replace.

It's not really like a whole can or bottle of beer spilled all over the board, Just little splashes. You know how when beer or soda dries it forms kind of a sticky sludge from the syrup/sugars.

Most spill-proof keyboards that I've taken apart have a layer of silicone moulded in the shape of the keyboard/key contacts which covers the membrane film that has the electronics traces on it.

Anyways I was hoping for recommendations of something someone has personally used/experience.

I've seen a few I like on Amazon, but it's hard to know based on descriptions/user reviews.

I'm not sure about beer resistant, but this one is spill resistant: https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=834-W0-12US-KR

Interesting, I wonder if it has to be multi-color or if it can be set to 1 static color like red or blue.

I saw some cheap no-name brands on Amazon, but they were all fixed multi-color, only could change the effects, not color.

I would just get another Logitech MK120 (with or without out mouse) because it is decent enough and inexpensive, but they are out of stock on Amazon.

Nothing more annoying than a key that sticks. Especially a commonly used key like the comma key.
