Hey guys,

Here is the build I am planning to get in the next week or so. Just wondering if there is any advice on it. I will be using it for gaming and also a little bit of photoshop and video editing. One thing I am undecided on is the motherboard, I'd like to be able to overclock in the future(possibly), I don't need SLI and I'd rather the motherboard be blue as opposed to the MSI red. However I have heard that the MSI G45 is the best motherboard for that price when compared to the Gigabyte Z87-D3HP. So which one would you get?

CPU:  Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£227.99 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard:  MSI Z87-G45 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£89.99 @ Novatech)
Memory:  Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory  (£67.99 @ Dabs)
Storage:  Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  (£99.80 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card:  EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Video Card  (£539.15 @ Ebuyer)
Optical Drive:  LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer  (£15.99 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £1218.28
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

For the motherboard go Asus or Gigabyte. Ditch the MSI board. Also for a psu go with Antec or Seasonic.

How about ..

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-g1sniperz87

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-power-supply-ea650platinum

There are other options by Asus, Gigabyte, Antec and Seasonic that are affordable but I am tired and it is past 3 am and I didn't eat a meal yesterday so got to go take care of my stomach and stop with this pc crap.

Anyway GL with your build and hope you have fun with it.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

If you do alot of video editing and stuff like that, maybe 16gb is more appropriate?

For motherboard G1 Sniper is also a very good choice, I dont remember the color though... ASUS's Motherboard is also very good but a bit more expensive, but then your budget is high so you can choose one. The MSI Z87 G45 is very good itself, I have the GD65 but those 2 are basically the same.

For CPU Cooler I recommend h100i, I'm using one right now and my CPU never go pass 50 C without overclocking (I've a 4770k too) even under full load, I havent OC yet since I havent bought my new CPU for too long and I want to make sure it work normally before I start to OC.

I'm in the university right now so the internet is very bad, if you want me to help finding Mobo quote this post and I will get back to you when I'm back home

Price breakdown by merchant: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3o5Xl/by_merchant/

Benchmarks: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3o5Xl/benchmarks/

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£227.99 @ Aria PC)

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  (£25.45 @ Scan.co.uk) <-- Get this cooler for overclocking

Motherboard: MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£63.82 @ Ebuyer) <-- Good motherboard that is blue, not SLI capable.  Motherboard doesn't impact performance, so get the least expensive Z87 that is blue you can find. This is it.

Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory  (£63.91 @ CCL Computers) <-- RAM is RAM, there is no difference in performance between brands.  You can save some money here by going with a less expensive brand, it performs the same.

Storage: Sandisk Ultra Plus 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  (£89.45 @ Amazon UK)

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  (£53.99 @ Aria PC) <-- 10 euros more for double the storage from a good brand of HDD.  Get the 2TB now.  Sucks to need it later and have to pay double. You will need storage space for editing.

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Video Card  (£539.15 @ Ebuyer)

Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  (£69.65 @ Dabs)

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  (£64.99 @ Amazon UK)

Optical Drive: LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer  (£15.99 @ Amazon UK)

Total: £1214.39

The motherboard comes with a bequiet sr1 cooler which is pretty neat, not that it would be great or anything, but it'll be good for me to start with. Thanks again, really appreciate, anything else I should change before I buy?

Unless you need HT, there's no point getting the 4770k over the 4670k.

The 780 Ti is a bad value. I suggest getting a 780 or 290 instead.
