I have the 840 gb but I can't get it to work with the SAMSUNG magician program. It just says it cannot detect a samsung disk drive. Here's some background:

At some point during my overclocking adventures, I screwed up and had to press the reset CMOS button. That was long ago, like a month. The only problem I encountered was that I couldn't activate windows. Still not activated even today, like 3 days left. Might have to call them.

I'm sort of amateurish at this stuff. I just followed what linus did in that techtips video where he upgraded his cameramans ssd. My motherboard is the x58 ud3r rev 2.0, I had a friend build it for me and after that I only upgraded the GPU, PSU and now the SSD. I didn't update any BIOS/SATA drivers etc., all those drivers those that couldn't be installed in Windows.

I mounted the SSD first,  then connected the power supply cable to the ssd, and the sata cable from the ssd to the sata 3 one.( The white colour one. ) I already unplugged the other HDD. I then started up the system and changed something to AHCI, then change the boot priority so that the CD would boot first. After windows is installed, I installed all the drivers and plugged the other HDD. Then installed the software and encountered this problem.

Thats the most I can elaborate :P

-by any chance did you remove the boot information from the hdd.

-did you make the ssd the primary boot device.

id clean the hdd regardless.

So I need to erase both drives data clean, then install windows again on the ssd? I dont mind as this is my gaming computer and there is no important shit at all. And yes, I set the 840 as the primary drive.

no no on the ssd is fine with its fresh install {good choice} but you should clean the other drive as thats still going to keep all the old boot information as well as the entire os

I did that but didn't help. Nevermind though, I solved my own problem. I just removed the sata cable and plugged it in the one next to it. Works like a charm now....

basically what you were doing was telling to your computer: here you have your HDD, but when the computer was going to read the kluster for fire up the info for the OS didn´t recognised the SSD ID kluster because it wasn´t the original HDD, whenever you install a new HDD or SSD do not use the same SATA conector in the motherboard that had your previous HDD or SSD as your primary unit. I hope this explanation help to understand the problem. If any one want to add or correct me in something please fell free to do it.

thank you

with me whoever, ahead who can
