Budget (including currency): £1,300

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA singleplayer games at high fps.

Other details Currently have a 1080p monitor but will soon get a 1440p 144Hz one, do not need any peripherals now.

Hello guys, this is my first build.

Currently looking at this, but I appreciate some feedback. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Sino073/saved/#view=NyQkJx

Will i need a RTX 3070 for 1440p gaming with decent fps? or will a 3060 ti do?

I am now frustuated waiting for the GPU prices to go down, is it worth buying a pre-built system at this point? I have heard they are reasonably priced. Would really appreciate any pre-built system suggestions. If I do get a pre-built, I will get a vertical GPU mounting kit to get rid of the DIY itch.

3060ti will be sufficient but if you can stretch your budget to get 3070 it , get it. It is a faster card after all 🙂

3070 is going to be 10 - 15 % faster than 3060ti but both should give you good fps on 1440p high settings.

For 1080p 3060ti is plenty. No need to go to 3070.

I would though , for 3070 , get a bit beefier PSU . Maybe a 750 or 850 even if you can.

Mobo also seems to bit overpriced for what it is.

Thank you good sir,

I'm hoping to go for a 3070. The motherboard, I'm having trouble finding a white one that is NOT overpriced.

Any thoughts on pre-built PCs?

Yea I would probably recommend at least a 3070 for 1440p (not sure if you will get high frame rates though). You should also consider an i7-10700/11700 with a B560 board. Their around the same price of a 5600x + you get 2 more cores. AAA games are generally more core hungry, to my knowledge, and having the extra cores will help the overall smoothness of the games.

There are some "reasonably price" pre-builds in NewEgg. You can check some ABS pre-builds.

Best case scenario - you will overpay. Worst case scenario - you will overpay while also getting a shit PC .

Prebuilt can be an option but you need to do some research before pulling a trigger about what you are getting and how much you are paying.

Usually prebuilts like to put a shiny GPU and/or CPU in for marketing while skimping on more crucial parts like proper PSU and MOBO .

Here I edited your list. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Q3ptvf

Yes, it's black board, But it's not really worth paying that much on board because it looks little better, U can do white and black build, That looks really good.

Also, don't get 970 evo plus. Right now, WD black is on deal, (119$) If u can get it, If not search for something else and read newest info about that drive, Not old feedbacks, Because manufacturers are swapping out parts without changing models and that affects performance of drive.

For as a GPU, You can get 3060 TI or 3070, If you could 😄 those parts are really hard to come by.

Get some cable extensions to make your system look good. https://www.amazon.com/Asiahorse-Customization-Sleeve-Extension-Supply/dp/B07C735N9C/
