Hello Linustechtips users, i've been dealing with a problem for about 5 days now.

There was a lightning close to my house and it broke some other electronics too.

The next day, my pc turned on, but it didn't have an internet connection, because the ethernet receiver (i don't know what it is called) on the MB broke, so i didn't think much of it and thought of buying an ethernet adapter to put in a PCIE slot.

The next day i went to buy one but there were none and i had to go on monday (30 aug), when i got home i wanted to turn on the pc and it didn't work, i took it apart, cleaned it and reconnected all the cables and it still didn't work, i thought maybe the PSU also broke so i went to my friend's house and tested my PSU in his PC and vice versa. When i put my PSU in his PC, it turned on, but then i put his PSU in mine, it still didn't work. After a while it turned on and then closed before even getting to the windows loading screen and then we were able to get into the BIOS settings and it also crashed.

I went home and connected everything back to my PC, i thought the MB was done for but i still plugger everything in and pressed the button to turn it on, it didn't do anything. And after 30min - 1h it turned on by itself, without me even pressing the button and it did automatic repair.

When i turn it on, i have to wait about 30min before it starts by itself. Does anyone know what it could be? I'm still getting an ethernet card because it still doesn't work.

I think you need to desolder the ethernet chip.

Sounds like the motherboard might be dying. If lightning toasted the on-board ethernet, there's a good chance that something else on the board could be damaged too.

I did some more tests and it turns on without any problem if it hasn't been taken out of the power socket.

If i leave it unplugged and turn it on in the morning i have to wait that time, but after that it turns on normally
