Looks good to me.

EDIT: Maybe swap that case for the Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB. Slightly cheaper and better.

Maybe get a GTX 1660 SUPER for now, and just upgrade it later. You can still do a lot of video editing and gaming with that gpu.

Zotac GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB ...or the slightly cheaper Zotac GTX 1660 6GB.

This alternative build would allow better performance, and get rid of that nasty HDD (which ultimately would be the slowest part of the build).

Undwrpowered, like really underpowered

Id expect a 5900x cpu or 5800x + a beefy gpu like the 3080 or 3080ti

Maybe getting rid of some rgb lights and instead spending the money on a better gpu/cpu will give you some noticable benifits

I would love a 3080/3080ti, but they are currently around £1500  and the 5900x is around £440 so would blow my budget, any suggestions on how i could improve the build to get closer to what I need?

Thanks for the advice, really helps... my thinking with the HHD was only to use it for the large video files for storage rather than running anything off it

Maybe something like this?

Basically got rid of the expensive case + aio since they were uneccesary and traded them for

5900x 12 core

32gb 3200mhz vengeance pro (corsair is cheap in the uk)

2tb nvme storage (w dram cache)

220t airflow rgb

I think with the leftover budget you can get a 3070ti

As someone who edits photos and videos this is what I would do then put the rest of your money towards getting the best GPU and peripherals you can.

Lol you just overkilled on the storage and ram, bruh its not a server xD

Board is kinda crappy, b550a pro is actually cheaper but much better board

850w platnum has horrible value, go 1000w or 1200w if you want a platinum psu

Have you ever edited videos / photos before? Have you seen how quickly project files reach into the 25+ GB's? A few projects later and you've eaten up half a terabyte of storage. Not only that but with two drives you can have some level of redundancy instead of hoping that your drives don't fail.

While it may not be the best board it's very well priced, supports everything he may need + it has wifi, we don't know the users network setup and this may be a huge convenience for them in the future.

No need for a PSU with that much wattage, it'll be running much lower than it's peak effeciency vs an 850W.

Neither does op need an 850w platinum, 850w gold like the corsair rm are ~50£ cheaper and the txm is about 65£ cheaper

B550a pro is 95£, much better vrm, no wifi tho

B550 tomahawk is 120£, no wifi, really good vrms for ocing (better than the apro) + 2.5gig ethernet, better ram ocing, etc.

Aorus elite ax v2, 120£, prob gonna have better vrms than the phantom gaming, also has wifi

Aorus pro ac, 110£, cheaper version of the elite ax, also has wifi

I have just watched the below video on LTT, can someone please help me understand how the build I posted is so underpowered but in this video Linus and Denis are editing 4k and 8k footage on a Ryzen 5 3600 and a ASUS Geforce GTC 1650?

I understand this video is 1 year old, but am I missing something? Sorry for the questions just trying to understand

They are saying it's underpowered for the budget rather than they're saying it's not enough to video edit. You can video edit on any PC really; it will just take much longer on lower end hardware.
