How to slow down my battery from degrading over time.

I don't know how effective these are at helping a battery retain it's battery life, but I've pretty much gotten used to them. To me it just feels wrong to use a phone/tablet which it's battery lower than 20%. I don't know why.

 

My iPad which I bought over 5 years ago, still retains it's charge, very well I'd say, and I have used these steps/methods on it. It gives me around 1.5 days easily on a charge. Not so harsh use though.
