Game Resolution

Go to solution Solved by ZetZet,

As I understand it's intel's problem

I've been having memory issue errors with some games when I play them for a long time. After I googled the issue, I found out that running a game in a different resolution than Windows causes this problem. Since I'm using the integrated graphics until I have the money for a discreet GPU, I tried lowering the Windows resolution to 720p. Didn't like it, and switched back to 1080p. I run my games @ 720p to get a playable framerate. But ever since I switched the resolution in Windows, the games won't go fullscreen @ 720p. So now I'm stuck with either: 1) Huge borders around the game; or 2) FPS <30.

Before I messed with anything, I could play games in 720p and the only problem was the memory thing, but now I can't get my setup back like that. Any ideas?

So I guess your problem is just getting the games into fullscreen? Assuming it's not some problem with windows, have you tried looking at the fullscreen setting in the game video settings? Also Alt + Enter puts lots of games into fullscreen, you should try that.

Could you try in the in-game settings to make it run at 720p?

other than that if it's a memory problem maybe you don't have enough ram?

I have enough ram, but there's a bug in Windows 8.1. If you run Windows in a different resolution than your games, then there is a huge memory leak. ALT+Tabbing out of the game clears it though. Really weird.

Once I get my 780 and can run games in 1080p I will have no more problems.
