OP, just to go off what they're saying a bit is that you can build something nice now... and then just upgrade the gpu later.

Something like this.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8vyG9N

It's worth it, so that you built it yourself... you know the parts work, and you're good.

If you do get a prebuilt, don't do what these bad reviewers do all of the freaking time. These bad reviewers simply think, "Oh, I can just plug it in, turn it on, and go." Nah, you have to check that the components are installed properly first, THEN plug it in and turn it on. This is why you probably have seen reviews where ___ part got fried. It's because they didn't check their system first. So if you do get a prebuilt, just be careful.

Thanks, I have some thinking to do. On one hand the pc you linked has everything I want I just need to add an HDD in the future, but on the other hand if I build a pc myself ill know the parts work like you said.

PS: Thanks everyone for helping!

Budget (including currency): 1500 USD

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: cs-go, valorant, apex, vr

Other details: Iv'e been looking for a pc for a while now and from my research this pc has the most for the price it has. The only problem is SkyTech has a lot of bad reviews and the cases airflow looks questionable on the front panel. There is also a $100 off coupon bringing the price down to 1400 giving me room to be able to buy a monitor. I don't know what to do. Do I look over all the bad reviews and go for it anyways or should I hold off on this pc.

A youtuber under the name PC Builder also recommended this pc in this video in the part 1440p Gaming PC2

Personally I'd read the reviews and see what other people are saying, maybe you can find a workaround to the issues.

Are all or most of the bad reviews consistently complaining about the same issue(s)?

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Sold by a third party, so I wouldn't trust it.

Get the 1660 SUPER model instead.

EDIT: Wait a minute... Amazon is selling basically the same computer for $100s less. Don't buy the one you linked to.

https://www.amazon.com/SkyTech-Shadow-Gaming-Computer-Desktop/dp/B0924Z9L9J

If you get either of these, just add more SSD storage to use as your main game drive (you may need an additional sata cable, but those are only around $5). 🙂

It seems like the bad reviews are mainly around customer support and people getting sent bad parts but it seems to differ review from review.

If I was going to get it would I be able to buy and add an HDD after the fact?

I just found another model that would be much better. Ryzen 5 3600 paired with a RTX 3060Ti.

You'll have to wait a bit to get it, but very worth it, if you can get it shipped to you.

Preferably a SSD, but yeah you can alternatively check to see if it has a HDD bay installed too. If it doesn't, you'll have to go with a 2.5" SSD. If they have no spot to mount that either, double sided tape does the trick. I've done that trick quite a bit, working with prebuilts.

Just remember to check the requirements for the games that you are going to play, nothing worse than getting a new rig and not being able to run it as well as you thought you would.

3060Ti > 3060.

The 12GB VRAM is more of a gimmick than anything.

I was tempted to upgrade to it too, but read the reviews and watched the videos.

3060Ti is much more worth it.

That's why most of the time you see custom builds are "I can just plug it in, turn it on, and go." Because they installed the parts and checked themselves.
