So I want a tablet, but I don't want an Ipad, not because I don't think they're good they are good; three OS's are just a bit much for me, and Apple is the dark side(but let's not go there :D). I have a Windows PC and an Android phone, I'm torn at whether I want to go Android or Windows RT or 8.1. I'm a little confused with what's going on with all those dual boot tablets. Besides I wouldn't be willing to pay that much for one (thinking budget $600 max preferably lower). I like the ASUS Transformer Book and Pad, but I'm open to suggestions: Thoughts, what's good these days?

To be honest, I'm not an Apple fan but I have to admit it that their stuff just works right out of the box; without any trouble or itchy heads. I'm using an iPhone 5 is because I don't want headache and I just don't care anymore. It's more of less all the same thing. Nobody has presented anything out of the box for last few years.

But if you don't like the iPad, I understand. I'm using a nexus 7 (newer one) right now and price to performance is very good. Transformer books are expensive and they don't get software updates properly. But then again they have that cool keyboard support.

I would not go for any Samsung tablet since they have a new model every month or so. And trust me, those specs on paper doesn't reflect a thing in real life.

Then also you can look into Chrome Books. They have the notebook feeling, keyboard and touchscreen. They are cheap and I'm pretty sure you can get android on them if you want to go through a little trouble.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

RT tablets are great if you are after productivity, they include word excel and powerpoint and have a USB port which you can easily plug things into

downside is the app store is pretty pants, but using a proper web browser is a great experiance and what is there works rather well, its also very well built and very attractive (also great built in stand)

Yeah the samsung tablets are a bit naff,

For 7" the Nexus 7 is a great choice, also the nvidia note is pretty much the most powerful tablet and one of the cheapest, has a great stylus too (screen is decent but not the best)  but it is great for gaming

You also have the Asus Memo pad 7+8 if you want something budget but not as powerful for games and apps more of a browser

for 10" the sony tablet is cool (also waterproof) very powerful EXTREMELY light and thin

although personally, im sticking with my trust iPad 4th gen until something gives me a reason to upgrade
